Daniela Capone (Ela Roth Capone) grew up in East Germany as the wall between socialism and capitalism was being torn down. She has traveled and lived in over 30 countries.
She now is a single mom of Matilda. Her husband and creative partner, Joey Capone, passed away in a tragic traffic accident Christmas 2022. She continues to run TheoFilms.
Her family and friends are musicians, ranging from the orchestra, to the jazz stage, to the underground of Berlin. In her younger years she played percussion in ensembles and bands.
Daniela obtained a master’s degree in Health Economics at the University of Cologne under Professor Lauterbach, the current German Minister of Health.
She started a successful research and consulting career living in Berlin. Her first study made it to the Federal Press House (Bundespressekonferenz) of the German government. However, her passion brought her back into art. She has been a curator, a photographer, and a filmmaker. She worked with the distribution of the documentary film La Finca Humana in the US and Germany.
She is featured and partnered with Greenpeace, Make SMTHNG, ReFashionReFood, Berliner Klimatag, Fairtrade Initiative Saarbrücken, Catracha Coffee, and others in connection to her art-based woman’s empowerment project BunnyMission in Honduras.
She shot and directed the feature documentary Two Mothers in Vietnam that had its premiere at the Ethos Film Awards in Santa Monica (2023).
She shot and produced the short Ice Fishing that had its world premiere at Tacoma Film Festival (2022).
She is in post-production with her second documentary Reverse Caravan which is set in Honduras. She is also in pre-production with her first feature length narrative, Impact Red.
Her focus is now on advancing this campaign as far as possible and bringing the film projects over the finish line.
Joey is now directing from the other side.
