Joey and I met August 26th 2017 in Topanga, California. I was just on the way to Honduras to work for a school of coffee farmers and stopped for a couple days to meet James Mathers a friend of mine, with him was Joey. Joey and I clicked and I knew in hours that he is going to be the father of our daughter.
We stayed in contact and talked every day on the phone. Some weeks later he followed me to the little mountain town in Central America. The best time of our lives began.
Over the years we developed many ideas for films, businesses and where to travel to. Most ideas came to life. We married November 16th 2018 and Matilda was born May 2020. We set up TheoFilms and made it into film festivals quickly. We were straight forward and made clear decisions on how to proceed.
We lived in a shared flat in Berlin, Germany with friends. Joey got started on the German citinzenship and we worked on my Greencard for the States. Matilda has dual citinzenship so all of us should have the same status everywhere.
We knew that we want to live in Topanga in the States and in Berlin in Germany. Joey moved to Seattle and got a job in preparation for my arrival after the three years of waiting for my Greencard. We decided to move from Seattle to Topanga and close the circle to move on into a new phase of our lives close to family and friends in the US too.
Some days before Christmas 2022 Matilda and I drove to Topanga to secure a place for our family. Joey followed a couple days later to join, but found the end of his life as pedestrian on an unmarked crosswalk in Portland, Orgeon through a speeding car only ten days after my immigration.
